Everything that is valuable, essential, professional, and a sense of loyalty to a professional musician can be found in a collaboration with the enthusiastic and energetic Steph Waller. I worked with Steph for nearly 10 years. First, she was my student, then my assistant with the Ventura County Symphony, and later, a colleague. Never have I had a more resourceful partner.
Steph is well-versed in composition, orchestration, harmony and counterpoint, and has a wide knowledge of musical literature of all styles. Besides, she is an indefatigable worker in such things as music library, preparing parts, copying, bowings, etc. This wonderful combination of knowledge and energy makes her certainly a rare person to have around. I have been involved in the performance of her compositions, an involvement that gave me great pleasure and aesthetic satisfaction. But perhaps the most important attribute that she has is that she is a wonderful human being with extraordinary sensitivity. If this letter sounds a bit superlative, it is only because one letter is too short to convey the qualities she possesses.
